900 Conv. Where are Microswtichs for roof latches?

Hi,

I have a 1997 900SE Convertible. After releasing the roof latches, when I push the button to lower the roof I get "CHECK LATCHES" on the display. I'm guessing there are microswitches that think the latches are still closed.

Can anyone tell me where the microswitches are? (in the top of the windscreen, or part of the latch mechanism), how I can get to them, and how easy they are to replace?

Many thanks, Phil (Pls reply to newsgroup)

Couple of things you might want to check first before you go spending money!

1) Have you checked that the 'tightness' of the latches inside your car is good? When slack, the roof often isn't 'secure' and the latches often pick this up as they are quite sensitive. My latches tend to loosen up, and I need to shorten them in order for the clamping down action, to be sufficient tight. It should be quite a firm effort to release/secure the roof....

2) Have you got anything in your boot which is obstructing the area where the roof folds into?

These two areas will often result in the error message below disappearing. Andy

I think he'd have the problem when starting to drive (as in "your roof is not properly latched" ) if that were the case, not when attempting to retract the roof.

That gives me a "check trunk" message in my '97 900 'vert, not "check latches".

The latch switches are located in the windshield support. The chrome pins that come down from the roof latches push them down a little when the roof is latched. I'd guess that one of them has not sprung up into position. Pull the roof open and the front manually a little bit and peer into the holes. One switch is probably stuck down.

You could also have other computer related problems.
