Micra maintenance reminder

I have a 53 plate micra sx, does anyone know how to clear the maintenance reminder from the display unit. Although it has been 12 months since the last service, the car has only done about 3000 miles and I think that I can safely wait a bit longer before the next service. Thanks Rob

Get it serviced.

Stop shirking and get it serviced.

If it spends it's whole life doing cold starts and short journeys, it needs servicing more not less.

Oh, yes - what about the warranty? 53-plate will still be within. But not if you don't get it serviced according to schedule.

Yeah, just leave it. Nissan and the other car companies advice getting your car serviced at least once a year just for a laugh.

It can't. Get it serviced before you end up with sludged up oil due to water condensation.

It's common to need an annual oil change regardless of mileage.

My point is, the car is not spending it's life doing cold starts and short journeys, it's hardly being used at all (only 7000 miles on the clock, hardly even run in), as for the warranty, I tend to favour the old bathtub curve for reliability, it hasn't broken down in the last 2 years so how likely is it to break down over the next 12 months. In my opinion, manufacturers only offer warranties for a safe bet, i.e. they are statistically unlikely to have to carry out any major repairs based on trials evidence and build quality.

which may tend to favour more water accululating inside the engine..

So it deserves looking after

If you don't service it, more likley. Cars are not electronics, they need maintenance.

It's a Micra, ffs...

More to the point, if it's sat around unused apart from a few reasonable length journeys, then all the more reason to service it. Get things lubricated before they seize.

You don't know much about cars, do you? It's not a DVD player ;-)

My friend had a Vectra 18 months old and the engine packed up at 22K , because the car had missed a service , Vauxhall told him to go and whistle, now he has a new body Vectra with an old expensive engine in it....

Well seeing as you promise to service it.... :¬) This was available on Ilexa Forums for a 2003 SX and above 1.2 Micra, so there are a couple of ways you can try.

switch ignition on - press and release button at top left of centre console - select "maintenance" by pressing and releasing lower button at top right of the console - press and release upper button at top right of console - select "service" by pressing and releasing the lower button again - press and hold the upper button again for 20 seconds, the message "set distance to service" will appear in display - select "set next" by pressing and releasing lower button - press and release the upper right hand button, the message "due in xxxx miles" will appear in the display - press and release the left hand button to return to the main menu - switch off ignition - job done

----------------------- It could be done by holding down both the OK (top right) and the Down-Arrow button (just below it), for more than 10 seconds, while 'Service' is highlighted.

A bit tricky how you press these two as the down arrow moves the highlight on to the next level. But after several tries I did it. Perhaps the trick is to press and hold the D-A button and then press and hold the OK one.

Your instruction seems not to need the pressing of both together. I will try it.

I have just tested pressing only the OK button for longer than 10 seconds while 'Service' was highlighted, and it reset it and then gave me the option to set for a new mileage at 9,000 more.

Made in Sunderland, but it does share a floorpan with the Renault Clio. The oily bits are mostly Nissan though - no-one else would put an oil filter THERE ;-)
