The recirculation flap is stuck closed. How can I manually open it?

How did You exactly helped the motor (should I only force the flap or do something manual to the motor too? I see the flap in the up position, is it open or closed then?

I was able to open it by gently pushing on the flap. It was a couple years ago, and I cannot remember the orientation of the flap.
