De-lurk

Greetings. Just popping my head in here as I'm a first tme Saab owner, and this looks like a usefull newsgroup to have in my list. I've wanted to own a Saab 900 since before I learned to drive in 1988, as I love the shape of them, and I've finally bought a near mint codition 1989 Saab 900i. I collect it on Tuesday, and I'm looking forward to finding out if it was everything I imagined it would be. I'll post again with my thoughts after I collect it. Back to my lurking again. Regards, Sam.

Welcome! Where you from? UK, USA or elsewhere in the Saaby world?

Hope she's all you wished for. Keep us informed, and get some pictures. Post a link though, no pictures on the group please you'll upset the grumpy old men. ;-)

Any problems, post em here first. I've had answers back before my cup of teas gone cold!

(We'll have you in a C900 Aero before you know it...)

Hey Sam ... Glad to have you aboard (soon :) ). As Al says, please post a link to a picture ... We love to have a good nose at SAABs around here.

I've wanted one since I saw a white growling thing back in 1985 and reckoned it was far cooler than the Porsche Carrera I'd lusted after until that point. Here I am on my third C900 and loving it to bits. I drive my boyhood dream car ... How lucky am I? Porsche? Nah, passed over two now and got my third C900 :)

I hope it lives up to your hopes ... Any little niggles or questions, just post them up here and we'll try to help out.

I'll get some piccys this weekend, and upload them to one of my domains this weekend (or tomorrow). In the meantime, this is the Ebay auction listing where I bought it.

couldn't be happier with how she looks, feels and drives.

Sounds like you've just described my car. She's a big (compared to the fiesta I've just scrapped) white thing which makes me think of a Star Wars Imperial Stormtrooper Car.

I hear ya brother.

It needs a litle tiny bit of TLC, but hey, that's half the fun of buying old cars. The bodywork is solid, and not a sign of rust anywhere except the inside bottom of the doors (easily treatable) and on the flap covering the petrol cap (even easier treated). The radio doesn't work as it needs a new aerial, but the CD player works great. A new aerial isn't going to cost much. Oh and the fabric on the ceiling sags a little, but I can fix that with half an hour and a can of spray mount.

And best of all was the price. In my opinion, a steal at only £171

UK...East Anglia to be precise....

Oh absolutely....

I'll be finding a picturesque location at the weekend to take a picture or two, and I'll post them here. In the meantime, here's the ebay auction where I bought it. It has some piccys.

LOL :) You have seen my car with white Incas, right?

A chap on SAAB Central descibed my car as the "must have" for any budding Imperial Stormtooper :)

Yours looks really nice ... You're in the Cirrus White gang now, mate! Good purchase ... I hope you like it!

Ooooh. Very nice indeed.

I like the sound of that. I rings of exclusivity, LOL.

Oh I do Paul. I do. It's even better than teh old 1986 Mercedes C230 that I used to own, and was heartbroken to lose.

Welcome. I've had two C900 Turbo16s Would have a third, but I've never found a black one in good enough driveable knick for my budget.

So I had a silver one, then a red convertible. I'm on another break with a another Skoda ATM, but I'll be back I reckon.
