Hi all, my '97 900 SE automatic with 150K km is having transmission problems, and I had it diagnosed by a Saab shop in Toronto. I was told that the gear selector switch has failed, which is consistent with what I suspected after comparing the symptoms (check engine/check gearbox coming on simultaneously, transmission in "limp home mode", earlier, on occasions, the car would start from a higher gear when first put in drive in the morning, once when the check gearbox light came on and I shut the car off, it would not engage starter again, etc.) with postings on this group. He also told me that this switch costs almost CDN $1000 plus almost $400 labour to replace it!!!!!! In your experience is this switch something that I may be able to get cheaper from a junkyard? Or is it one of these parts that I'm better off getting a new one, because they have a limited amount of life in them? Is CDN $400 for the installation reasonable? I'll shop around, but would like to know your opinion. Thanks in advance Jozek
