performance clutch

hi where can i get a good performance clutch kit for my 1990 saab 9000 cd 2.0 TURBO. one that is good but not to expensive like $400 to $500. and what does a performance clutch feel like is it much stiffer and is there a big difference?

and should i get my flywheel lightened or will it not be as strong? or is it just not a big difference?

How stiff it is depends on the clutch. How much power is your engine producing? If the engine is stock then a racing clutch won't do much for you other than costing more and being harder to drive. Lighter flywheels do make the engine rev more freely but they also tend to make the idle rougher and it's harder to shift smoothly.

A performance clutch engages much more quickly. So it is more like an on/off switch.

If you have the cash, get the lighter flywheel.

I don't know about that... I do know the springs are stiffer so the clutch can transfer higher power/torque without slipping.

It will not add any power, it makes the engine more responsive, rev up/down a bit faster as there's less mass to accelerate/decelerate. Only useful if you plan to go AX. If you go for high top speed it's probably not worth it. Anyway, the difference in an already high power engine wil be marginal.

I have a Centerforce clutch in one of my Volvos, it's a little more grabby but not as much so as a true racing clutch. There's different levels of "performance" and what you should get depends on what state the rest of the car is in and what sort of driving you do with it.
