I wonder if you may have a weepy injector - and that gap looks a just little irregular from here as well. Have a peak around here if you are using a fuel additive - it almost looks like a 'splash deposit':

The plug gap was fine...just looks strange because of the low electrode. They were Bosh Platinum. They do look like the last one in that group of pics with the additive splash. Since I dont use additives, it must be something in the Esso gas I use. I will put another 1k on the old girl and check the new plugs. If I still have the deposits, I will switch brands of fuel for a few thou and see what happens. nd yes the new plugs are the factory recommended type in my manual.

Ah. Yes, I tried those long ago too, as have lots of folks here, only to find they don't do well with a Saab.

Your manual recommends Bosch Platinums? Every manual I've seen for the last two decades or so of production has listed NGK. What year/model/ engine/market?

Quite - I've never seen a Saab manual recommend any Bosch plugs.

Hi,

i had a 9000i 2.0 and if i remember correctly the manual recommends NGK BPC5ES plugs, no word about bosch. i heard from people that the bosch platinums dont perform worse than the NGK plugs in the NA engine. but they are surely not neccessary and wont give you any benefit. to the OP: everything of the Ignition/Injection system on your car is made by bosch, just the plugs are made by NGK. think about it, saab must have thought about something. absolute no-no are Bosch Platinums in turbo engines! just original NGK dont accept substitutes

Hi,

i just meant to post this for all the other people that read this newsgroup, so they know they shouldnt use Bosch plugs. i didnt mean to say that you were using the wrong plugs, just to point out that there has to be a reason for using NGKs. didnt mean to offend you, really, if i did i am sorry. good luck !

bye
