Saab 9.5 Aero 2000

Feb 05, 2004 4 Replies

I have just purchased theis car with !00k miles but it has been dealer maintained since new and runs and feels like a new car. And, the price was irresistable. Does the Aero have the 2.3t engine or the 2.3Turbo engine. Am I correct that the 2.3 Turbo is the Hot turbo?

Any special care in operating , lubricating, maintaining this model?

PS What a diswplay of electronics... Do you really need all this?

2.3 Turbo HOT, B235R is it's designation.

Just change oil and filter at least every 6kmiles, and sit back for trouble free motoring.

Engine should have the nameplate on it, small t is LPT, cap T is HOT.

I'd let it idle a bit to warm up, just a little, and after driving with the foot in the turbo, I'd let it idle a bit before turning it off. Making sure the oil is within specs for grade and changing it regularly, especially in city traffic, is a good thing.

That's generic stuff for turbos, anyway.

Well, as an EE and gadget aficionado, *I* appreciate it. I'd like to have seen battery voltage available, engine temp in degrees, boost on the LPT, cool/heat LEDS on the interior heat/cool. More than 3 settings on the seat position, backup sensors, and lots more control (like what you get with tech 2...)

But that's me....

I think there's little difference between the two model years....

I say what I'd like to have seen, and have not. Then again, I put in a GPS while I was at it.

Kinda wish that this had been in there...
