That's what I thought. Seriously tempted to see what if anything he would trade my Celica for=20 against it. I've emailed him to see if there is any issues with the fly by wire=20 throttle/ABS/TCS etc, what mileage and whether the climate control etc=20 still works. I'm not buying another gadget laden car with broken=20 gadgets, not once you get into the couple of =A3K mark. I don't mind=20 mechanicals, they are usually wear and tear. But when it comes to=20 gadgets, from now on, they need to work, or it is a no go for me.

Need to tart it up a little though. that Aero looks pretty clean.

Interestingly, the confused.com site has it as a 2.3 CSE 16v but the MY RAC section of the RAC website lists it as an Aero.

Just doing an insurance check. Normally, with cars I choose, my current insurer comes in at about =A3200= =20 less than the lowest confused quote. Did on my 900, did on an import=20 prelude I was interested in, and did on the UK spec GT4.

Don't think they will this time though Norwich union Direct may just=20 about quote me happy. In a confused search, it came in at =A3563 fully=20 comp with my estimating the value at =A33000.

It seems to be my postcode I think. I've only been driving on a full license for 3 years (4 in october) but=20 I had insurance as a learner on a Skoda Estelle. So easily a full 4 years no claims. Clean license for 3 years. No accidents or claims ever. aged 36. The Skoda as a learner was =A3400, then the Favorit I had after that was=20 =A3380. The 900 was =A3450ish maybe more and the GT4 was arround the =A3500 is mark. Since the Estelle (TPF&T), all the others have been fully comp. My=20 insurer likes to insure cars that are modified fully comp. Their comp=20 quotes usually come back cheaper than the TPF&T ones. And I like the=20 extra benefits like windscreen and legal cover.

Judging by the condition of the seat squabs and no mention of mileage, I expect it's a high miler.

I saw a better one on ebay last Jan ( nearly bought it ) but got outbidded in the last few secs. It went for £1830 and had a serious service history.

That price being asked isn't serious.

Cheers. I'm waiting for a report back from the dealer regarding mileage. The bases of the seats do look a little cracked, but if it is a fairly=20 high miler, it could be that they have never had a good feed/clean with=20 Gliptone/Autoglym/Megs leather feed.

It is a trader rather than private sale car. That price is still cheap=20 for an Aero though isn't it?

Not really. I only have a year old guide - but a year ago it would have been worth - trade 'showroom' value ( 10 k miles p.a. ) = 2650 - private sale in good order ( also 10k miles p.a. ) = 2310 - private sale in undocumented condition ( no service history - below avg condition ) = 905. 'Trade in' value typically 1380.

Adjust all figures for mileage > 10k p.a.

Beware of all undocumented claims about mileage. If there's no service history to verify, then consider the mileage false. IT almost certainly will be. Something like

I nearly forgot. Adjust all prices above downwards according to mileage over 10k p.a.. The equation gets complicated though. In the end, it's up to you to decide if you like the car at any given price.

Oh I know. And with a Saab, it isn't even mileage that is as important,=20 as the overall condition of the body/interior/suspension/toys, and how=20 it drives, because we know the engines last forever and a day. Don't=20 know where you have been getting prices like that though. I know what=20 Parkers and Glasses might give as price ranges, but for a 2 litre LPT=20 you were looking at over =A32-3.5k last year. Couldn't find any Aeros=20 under =A33k and nothing worth having under =A34k. Even searching nationally= ,=20 on Autotrader, Loot, Ebay, SOC, local papers, and fish 4, it was very=20 difficult to find an Aero anywhere, never mind at those prices.

(i know its unusual for a car=20 of this age) it is in superb condition throughout. he has had a new saab=20 gearbox and clutch fitted not so long back in june 04 . car was last=20 serviced by them in april 05.full saab service history from new ... you=20 must see and drive this car as you will definatley buy it ."

Worth anywhere near =A32.5k, or should I come in insultingly low and have= =20 a play with him.

It's an L reg!! And while 176k isn't huge, and the engine is likely to be fine, there are lots of other wear items which will feel that mileage.

There's no way that car's worth £2.5k. I've seen similar cars for £1200, and I'd personally hesitate to pay even that.

Well, he is a trader so expect at least 1/3 above the norm, and add to=20 the fact that the service history goes from day one to last year, from a=20 franchised dealer, with just one owner, and that the gearbox was changed=20 last year, and the fact that he knows nothing about Saabs and paid far=20 to much for it himself, so has to get it back somehow.

Sure - I can see how the price might be reached, just saying that it's considerably more than they go for, especially at that age.

Thing is, I have seen a 9000 Aero anything like that price. Even on=20 Ebay.

There was one went for =A3577. but it was a wreck by the sounds.

As you can see, the Aeros are still holding their prices. The one I=20 found is the cheapest of the lot.

I couldn't open your short url (timed out), but I've just done a nationwide Autotrader search, and found quite a few very nice looking examples for a lot less money.

OK, the short linkw as specifically for Aeros. The Griffin is OK, but it is an Auto. As is the Anniversary unfortunatley. I've noticed that Autos, even Aero Auto (upped cosmetic spec CSEs) sell for as little of 50% of the manual price.

Really? That big a difference? Wow. I've not really paid attention to that. I wouldn't fancy an auto myself.

The info was from Parkers ! Aeros turn up rarely for sure.

This would doubtless have made a decent purchase too.
