Saab's Quality issues (cont.)

I purchased a 9-3 aero sport combi last december. After 16,000 Km and 7 months, here's the important problem I did complained about :

  1. Brake problem (like if something has dropped out the underside of the car): never found the problem
  2. "Pool" of water under passenger seat (back)
  3. Unexplained Coolant lost after towing a standard popup trailer 1800# for
1,000 km.
  1. Aerodynamic noise with the sunroof
  2. Fuel level dropped unexplainly around half even if fill up has just been made. Happened at -20 C and recently at 25 C.

On the mild side, a lot of plastic rattle all around the car (inside) on uneven roads.

So far, only item #2 has been resolved.

So, I can certainly understand this JD Power survey.

But compared to my brother's in law problems i gets with his Z4 and X5 BMWs, I find myself lucky...

Strange...I had this one as well, twice (on my current 2004 93ss aero). Also never found problem. For one of them I even pulled over to the side, but I was unable to find anything on the street. Unfortunately it was nighttime and difficult to search.

Possible air conditioner water? I saw a puddle of water under my car today...but it appeared to be condensation from the air conditioner.

Yes...and given you have a 2006 model, apparently, they've done little to eliminate these rattles since the model's inception, nearly four years ago. Ugh. Others have reported various interior rattles on 03s, 04s and 05s. There are some DIY fixes available.

It was really in the car, under the passenger seat, not under the car (this is normal with a/c). They told me they fished in a rod to clear draining tubes from the roof top but I don't believe it. If it was cloughed, water won't have accumulated within the car.

Anyway. My first 7 months experience with this car is a bit frustrating. I had an Audi A4 before and never had much of a problem with it, except near the end where the automatic venting/a-c system went bizerk.

Question: why do they provide drain tubes of any sort in a car? Answer: to avoid having things drain where you don't want them to.

Question: why would you care where things drain? Answer: Because you don't want water from either internal or external sources inside the car.

In other words: There are drains, they are there to keep the car dry, if they plug up then you can get water backing up where you don't want it.

You should be able to get all these issues solved under warranty. Generally you have a bunch of niggly issues, then by the time the warranty is over, the car runs perfect
