Haynes manual on 9000 says that to release the side repeater indicator lamp on a 9000, you have to push the lamp towards the rear of the car. It is exactly the opposite!!! Once the side indicator is off, it is easy to see from the construction that you have (had) to push it forward towards the front of car.

What do you expect from Haynes ? Useless idiots.

Well, 90% useless; some 10% might be useful as there is no other book. The wiring diagrams in the back can be quite useful.
My first car was a Mk 1 Cortina Estate 1500 deluxe.
Back then, you could get various manuals. The Haynes was by far the worst.
Need I say more ?

It was more common to work DIY on cars. No ECU, just a carb and a spark distributor. But engines required constant fiddling and adjustments. Modern cars are more un-inviting for DIY. I saw a film about a Honda Insight Hybrid car. There was a lady motor journalist and a Honda representative. She then asked the question on everybody's lips: "How long does the batteries last?". "Oh", said the Honda representative, "Longer than the lifetime of the car". I chuckled over that answer, maybe a Freudian slip?... My 1993 9000 just passed MOT today.
I always find that the Haynes manual has everything needed to work on the car - except what you really need :-)
For example, they'll have great detail on how to do the incredibly obvious steps in a repair, then when you get to the one that's really unique to that car/component and requires detailed instructions and a photo, it will say 'proceed to remove the component'. They never fail to let me down just when I finally need help.
Those tappets !
If I still had my '93 model I'm sure it would too. The emissions figures always stunned me compared to the limits. The engine had ~ 165,000 mi on it. Barely run in.

Spot on !
My experience too.

Are you from Yorkshire? :-)

It had everything I ever needed for my two classic 900s and I had to do everything but dismantle a gear box.
I now pay SAAB to have it done :-(( too old to crawl under the car in the middle of winter.

Charles C gurgled happily, sounding much like they were saying:
The Haynes Book of Lies for the c900 is an absolute comic compared to the Bentley manual.
