94 SL odometer

While driving my '94 SL, the odometer quit working. The speedometer still works and there is no SES light or codes stored. After scanning over the schematic it appears there is only one speed sensor and the signal is supplied to the PCM, then to the instrument cluster. Question....which is more likely to have failed, the odometer mechanism or the PCM?

BTW, it stopped at 201008 miles.

Thanks, T.

"Terry Mosley" typed until their fingers bled, and came up with:

since it is a mechanical device, and you still have a speed reading, it's an odometer issue.

and on the '94, the VSS goes to the IP without going through the PCM.

Odo gear on the 1st gen SL's are plastic and usually break after awhile. Quite expensive laborwise to replace. 93 and 94 were big on this. Not related to PCM or anything else whatsoever.

Replacing it requres buying a new gear (you can find them if you Google), removing the dash, cluster gauge and then dissasembling the cluster to replace the tiny gear. Fun, huh? :-P

The most popular (and economical) solution is a pad of paper and a pen to manually write down your mileage. marx404
