'95 sw2 tailgate latch

I have two problems with the rear tailgate on my '95 SW2:

1. When I pull the remote opener, the latch unlocks but the door does not pop out, so when I let go of the cable, it just locks again.

1. The interior light is always on.

The part of the latch that is attached to the car (not the door), looks broken. It seems like it should have a spring to push the door out. Is this correct? Is the switch for the light also in this latch? If so, does anyone have an extra one they'd like to sell?
