Vacuum leak or ECT sensor are common reasons.
Not necessarily: as I recently found, a bad temp sensor may cause the same symptom. Have it checked (mine was cracked, turned on the SES for small vaccum leak and caused high idle speed. With the high idle speed clue, the shop was able to trace it to the sensor). Since then, all is well (over 1/2 year).
CHECK FOR PVC HOSE FOR HOLE, AND SENSOR ECT
Cap lock off please.
