There's a service called CarFAX, but you have to be a member. I think they offer the first VIN search for free. Check it out at

I've done that, when I was looking to buy.

You'll have a record for when the title was first transferred to you name, and (in Texas at least) when you get it inspected, if you have to do an emissions inspection, that shows up. Now that I don't live in Harris County, my inspections don't show up.

Anyway, with those emissions inspections, you'll see the mileage on the CarFax report.

Anybody used this service before? My vin comes back with 5 records although I am the original owner. I am curious to know what is being address by these "records" but not so interested in paying to find out!!! :-)
