What is the last year for the SC2?

Are they still making the SC2. I can't seem to find any on the net.

2001 is the last year. In 2002, they were replaced by the Ion Quad Coupe.

Damn too heavy and the wrong transmission. I am looking for a Saturn to tow behind my motorhome with all 4 wheels on the ground. It has to be an automatic. I hear the VTi transmission can't be towed.

Guess a new one is out. I will have to find a really nice 2001.

Thanks

You're correct about the VTi and flat-towability.

However, the VTi isn't being put in the Coupes anymore, if you get one that was manufactured Late January or later.

If you want a decent '01, they can be had for under US$10,000 with under

36,000 miles in most places. Have the dealer run a Carfax to make sure it's clean, and don't buy a car that's been a rental.

Right now, there are a lot of '01 Saturns coming off lease, so there's plenty to be had, and it's a buyer's market for used cars.

sorry, this is wrong

they made the S-series until 2002, the ION quad-coupe came out for 2003

You should be able to find many 2001 and 2002 SC1s and SC2s coming off lease for a really good price right now

Oops, you're right. The SC-2 overlapped witn Ion Sedan production. In

2002 there were Ion Sedans, but no Ion Quad Coupes. The coupe was still the SC2.

Sorry about that.

The 5-speed automatic on the Ion sedan cannot be towed with 4 wheels on the ground either. This is the case with almost all automatic transmissions, you cannot tow with all four wheels on the ground because parts of the drivetrain do not receive enough lubrication with the engine not running. If you want to do this, you really need a manual, or else a vehicle like some SUVs where the transfer case can be shifted into neutral to disconnect the transmission from the drive wheels.

The LS series and the Vue with V6 and 5 speed auto are listed as four down towable. I think that is because they use the Honda V6 and tranny.

That follows because the VUE is on the LS platform.

All of the manuals are listed as towable.

Yes, I found a nice 2002 SC2 lease return, the right color (silver), nice dark tinted windows, and Black leather interior. The only problem, it was a manual.

hahah I don't see how manual would be a problem! (I wish I would have bought my 01 SC2 with a manual instead of auto) I guess if you don't want to drive stick, then it would be a problem.
