My '55 Champion is...running!

Hello all!

My beloved '55 Champion sedan had a problem that was driving me crazy. When it was put under load, such as when engaging the clutch, the poor thing would fall down and die. I replaced the fuel pump, the entire ingnition system from spark plugs to the points, and had the carb apart twice in attempts to find the cause. Today, after a few weeks of pondering the problem, I tore the carb apart again, only this time I removed all of the soft gallery plugs, and then spent the rest of the afternoon spraying, poking with a soft copper wire and blowing with compressed air each and every gallery at least three times, and the resault is that the car now runs as it should! Yippie! The funny thing is that I never found or saw any bits of dirt come out of the galleries. Hmmm.

My next project will be to re-bush the front suspension.

My thanks to all for their ideas and input, Chris Houck

"409" is a wonderful final wash for 99% of projects for residue removal and I use it for final paint prep too.

Yep, and 409 is cheaper then what you buy at a paint store! and it's "environmentally friendly" (that way we can pour the thinner along the fence row to kill the weeds) BOSEG

I hope you dont use the old rubber when you rebuild the front suspension. I sure like the delrin kits that one of the vendors here has an delrin sure makes them handle better
