Never, ever again accuse me of driving up Studebaker prices. Holy crap:

Dayam. Is this a record for a Lark? Nice car and nice presentation though, hard to find fault.

Time marches on I guess, my R2 Daytona sold for 25K two years ago and he just blew that away. At the time there were some comments about making Studebakers unaffordable, but it's just supply and demand.

It says 'no detail was overlooked', but you woulda thunk they would have installed some fresh front wheel grease caps. Can't really see the wheel cylinder well enough to tell which version it is. I suspect an R2 did not get driven much in the Tucson area , at least between April and November.........

What do you think is the shinny wet looking stuff under the floor pan at the passenger side front that is in the photo of the disc brake? Leaking oil from rear main or from the valve cover on that side? Also did later Larks, like this one, have the inner fenders in the engine bay painted body color? My early Lark has dull black/grey paint with body color over spray and yellow letter markings. Are both cars correct?

Probably. The dull grey/black is probably just the electorstic primer that was applied after the panels were stamped. The inner fenders were *supposed* to be painted all body color, but whether they made it all the way down to the bottom of the fenders was likely dependent on how much of a hurry the painter was in when those particular parts came by.

So, when I repaint the car adding the color all the way down so then engine bay is all body color would be okay for a restored car and would not get any points taken off?

my 2 59's and 60 lark all have the black/grey color on the inner fenders and cars are still sporting original paint. The 100K is that way and it will be going back that way. Yes 100K is back in my possession and I will be the absolute last Studebaker I own and do. Building a granny flat in my back yard for mother in law and she will have to share with 100K.

About half the price of a new Viper, and 2/3rds that of a new Corvette. There will never be another one built, you can't go into a dealer and order a new one, and if you did go new car shopping with $40K, you'd land just above the middle of the market.

The real question is why it's taken so long for cars like this to get the respect they deserve.
