The speedometer fluctuates wildly during acceleration and when cruising shows about twice the actual speed. The pointer also shakes so badly that it taps on the inside of the gage window. However, the odometer continues to clock accurate distance.
If the cable were at fault, wouldn't the odometer also be malfunctioning? And if not the cable, what other possible causes?
