Subaru extended warranty?

Dec 28, 2003 2 Replies

Does anyone have any information regarding Subaru extended warranty in Canada? Has anyone obtained one, and if so, what was the cost to you?

I have a 2002 TS, just started the final year of it's warranty now. It has very low km, when the warranty runs out I'll only be at ~ 36,000km, and want warranty coverage until 60,000 km.

Thanks, Aaron

Subaru has 60K powertrain.

I had looked into it and decided to pass as I felt there were too many clauses they could use to duck claims, though that may also depend on your dealers willingness as well. Get a pamplet from the dealer and call the warranty program and ask for a copy of the contract. After reading the contract ask the dealer for prices and to clarify what they will and won't do for you. Someone explained it to me by saying that the only reason to consider it is if you can't afford /budget for unexpected repair bills, otherwise on average you will be paying extra.

Instead I ended up going over the car befor the end of bumper to bumper warranty, carefully looking for any issues. I then went to an independent that did a lot of subarus and had them look it over and advise me on my list. Then I went to the dealer with my list and paid them for an hour of inspection as well. There were not many things wrong and they were fixed. Whether this will pay in the long run I don't know, but I'll find out.
