98 Legacy Outback Tapping Noise

Mar 03, 2004 2 Replies

I just bought a 98 Legacy Outback Wagon with 57K miles on it. It is in great shape, and I love driving it. When it has been sitting for a while and I start it, I get a tapping noise until it really warms up after driving for a while, then it seems to go away. I've checked the oil and I know the previous owner and she did all of the scheduled maint. on it. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks from a new Subaru owner. Larry

It's perfectly normal. I've found that Mobil1 10w30 reduces it somewhat.
