crankshaft nut? which way?

I've got a '97 Legacy 2.2L engine. Which way do I turn the crankshaft pulley nut to take it off? The usual counter clockwise? It's on very tight.

Thanks, Wayne

Counterclockwise is correct. You turn it the opposite of the engines rotation. A sketchy but successful method of removing the crank pulley nut is to use a breaker bar wedged against the ground and key the starter. Just make sure you don't hold the starter for more than a second or you may start the engine.

Did you shove a big screwdriver in the hole on the top of where the bellhousing bolts up...take the rubber plug out. TG
