Typically, the dash lights are designed to dim when the headlights are on, so that they won't be too bright at night. Do you mean they dim more than they have in the past, in similar circumstances?

Sounds to me like your Battery may be on it's way out. If the Battery is over 4 Years old, consider getting a new one. Another thing to check is the grounding straps which bolt onth the body and the engine from the NEGATIVE side of the battery. The place where they bolt onto the car should be "C-T-B" (Clean Tight & Brite) This goes for the wires also. Check where they are crimped for corrosion (green color) in the wire strands. If they are cut the old O-Lug off, cut back 1/2" of wire and re-crimp a new O-Lug to the same.

Bottom line is " C-B-T " for all electrical mechanical connections. Look at em. Tug on em. Wiggle em an see iffen their loose. Any of the above correct the problem. (also press down on the fuses under the hood and behind the coin cup with the thumb to be sure they are seated fully. Road vibration works em loose, press down with a thumb and listen/feel for a CLICK is a tipoff they were loose.)

I second the recommendation for checking the battery. I figure a battery is good for 5 years, less one year for each time it's been drained flat.
