Electric impact wrench?

Anybody have any opinions about electric impact wrenches, and this one in particular from Canadian Tire?Mastercraft Maximum Impact Wrench with Digital Display | Canadian Tire'm thinking it might be useful for changing to and from winter tires, and not have to pay for the semi-annual tire change fee. It's on sale right now, and it seems at this price it'll pay itself off in 3 tire change seasons with one car, even quicker with more of them. Yousuf Khan

$35 to take off or put on snow tires is HARDLY overcharging.

Into the shop, onto the hoist, up in the air, remove wheel covers if so equipped, and wheel locks if so equipped, remove 4 wheels, install

4 wheels, lower the hoist and torque all 16 or 20 (or 24) lugnuts, install wheelcovers if so equipped, off the hoist and out of the shop, plus the required paperwork is a GOOD half hours work.

They need to rent, (or pay for + taxes) heat and maintain the shop, run and maintain the hoists and compressor, pay the mechanic a living wage as well as unemployment insurance, workmans compensation and any other benefits, and still make a small profit. At today's rates, $75 an hour is not going to leave much left over

which is why you get the tires mounted on another set of rims (yawn)

around here the cars are jacked out in the parking lot outside the tire shop and that's it. no need to move it inside and hoist it up whatsover.

it's must be an american liability thing to get the car onto the hoist just to swap 4 wheels (optionally with reshoeing) that or idiots riding on the impact wrench hoses with studded tires ;-)

or maybe it's unsightly to have the technicians roll the wheels into the shop to the wheel balancer for reshoe. The poise is maintained better if you roll 5 vs

50 meters out of customer sights :^D

I'm talking WITH the tires on separate rims.

Doesn't happen that way much here - particularly if it is wet and cold and windy.

That's exactly what has already been done, it still costs at least $35 to get this done. If you had to get the tires mounted and balanced on the rims, then that would be about at least $70.
