Good So. Calif. dealers?

Thinking about getting my first Subaru, and wondering about experiences people in this group, who live in So. Calif., have had with dealers. I'm near dealers in Lake Forest, Fullerton and some place west, either Costa Mesa or Huntington Beach. Any of those to avoid? Any of them worth driving further for? I'd be especially intersted in perceptions of Irvine Subaru (actually in Lake Forest), which would be most convenient for me.

Thanks.

Same question here - Irvine is the *only one* I have heard good things about, so far.

I had a bad experience with Irvine Subaru. You'll find it in a search of this group. The deal was fishy from the start, but in the end (after a lot of fighting) I got exactly what I want. I however am NOT your ordinary customer. I've been a car salesman and brought along my brother-in-law who was also a car salesman for 3+ years. So we knew our stuff.

Needless to say, I doubt you'll be able to get the same deal. They say they lost money on the deal, but I doubt it.

I recently purchased 04 WRX from Timmons Subaru in Long Beach they were pretty good although they could have washed the car better there were a couple of water marks I could have done a better job. The Costa Mesa one has a bigger selection.

That's the same line I heard last year when I bought my WRX Wagon, isn't it standard for the salesman to say that? ;-)

After buying my MY03 WRX wagon in Santa Monica, I drive 50 miles to Irvine Subaru any time my car needs service. If I had it to do over, I'd buy it in Irvine.

Don't neglect to do your homework first. Know the invoice price of the car you want. Find out what factory to dealer payments are being made for that car. Holdback is always paid, and is usually 1-2%. They'll rarely admit that it exists. Rebates, and holdback amounts change on a weekly or monthly basis.

Any dealer will let you pay as much as you're willing to pay. It's still your job to find out how low the dealer can go and still make something.

Anybody remember that late night car salesman on TV years ago whose line was "We lose money on every deal but make it up in volume?"
