OIL for a 2004 2.5i outback

What oil can I use in my 2004 2.5i Outback?

It burns some oil (1 litre in 4.000 Km) with sintetic 5-40 oil (CEPSA, MOTUL, CASTROL). Anybody has tried some syntetic oil to reduce this consomation?

I live in Nort-Spain and the weather is medium: not very hot in summer (betwen 22 and 32 degress) and not very cool in winter (betwen 0 - 10 degrees). In my region the most oil used for new cars is the systetic 5-40.

Tanks!!

I am running Mobil1 10w30 since new and now have 100,000 miles. My

2.5L Forester non-turbo runs as new and consumes about 0.25 quarts per 5,000 mile oil changes. My manual recommends 5w30 or 10w30 for normal weather driving.

Be sure your PCV system is working correctly. Change your air filter for good measure. Try an HDEO like Rotella 15w-40. Your temperatures seem moderate.
