Received a letter from SOA offering a guaranteed trade-in value for my '03 Subi Legacy sedan. The SOA sales campaign was "wooah look at how well your Legacy has held it's value" The letter really did "wooah" me! The drop in value is equivalent to a cost of 50c / mile. I was a lot happier in my ignorance of "how well" (sic) my Subi was (not)holding it's value. What advertising genius thought out that campaign?

Based on my mileage (on an 01 Forester), the value drop works out to just under 17c / mile. That doesn't seem too bad to me. I'm still not ready to take them up on the offer though, since I'm undecided on getting another Subaru.
I agree. I'm a low mileager too. I suspect if I totaled mine the insurance company would give me more money. Frank
I received the offer this week also... SOA offered me a minimum trade in value of $16,000 for my 2002 Outback VDC Sedan. (assuming max mileage of
15,000/ year). In one week, my Suby will be 3 years old and it has 46,500 miles on it (and excellent/very good condition). There is NO way I would give my car away for $16,000, especially since the car listed for $32k and I paid $29k for it. I would expect that Subaru would value their cars more than this also... however, they are in the business of making money. So be it. I'm keeping my current model. In any case, I don't care for what I see from them this year. I would definitely be interested in that 'B9' model, or whatever it was called. Regards, John
Car dealers make most of their profit from used cars. They'll give you $16K then mark it up $3,000 or 20% at minimum. Then charge the buyer higher interest for a used car. Getting a new car buyer back in helps them move slow selling models too.

Better read the fine print. If you Subie was ever hit or involved in any kind of a mishap, even a minor fender scrape or a dent via a free-rolling shopping cart at the Quickie Mart, they won't take it for a trade.
Probably the same morons who thought of that butt-ugly Trifecta, Tribeca, Trifolda or Triway B9 or whatevetheyarecallit at subaru.
Looks like they copied the body style of a Nissan Murano and then took the front end of an Edsel, slammed em together at 200 MPH and went to a rice and noodle break where the designers later forgot where they laid the plans......

Oops! I didn't mean the B9 model... that thing is UGLY. A few years ago, Subaru showed a high end sedan that I thought looked spectacular. It did have a front end similar to the B9, but it was not an SUV.
Many Subarus don't even qualify. My 2002 LL Bean already has 50K miles and crash damage, both of which disqualify it....I really like the new ones, but I can wait, as my car is still fantastic and gives me zero trouble.
