A buddy bought a forclosed house and found a 1976 Oldsmobile Omega in the garage with a 260 v-8. Just out of curiosity, I have been trying to find out if this was a good motor/car or junk. The car is in descent shape, but was last registered in 1994, so was probably parked there 9 - 10 years ago. The garage floods when it rains as the house has drainage problems, so it was in a very humid environment much of that time. Some body rust. All tires are flat and he hasn't found a key for it yet (lots of junk left in the house, including a bag of keys, but none appear to fit).
Anyway, I'd expect we could get it to run again, but not sure we wouldn't put as much in it as we would get back out. Was this a good/desirable motor/car or basically a dog? Interested in opinions, but not a big deal. He called the county tax office (this is in Texas) to see how he would/could get a title and they said call the police and they will impound it for some period of time and then auction it. Basically, don't know if the car will end up being his or not to do something with.
Thanks for any and all replies. bobby
