1998 2.4l Cavalier Issues

Hi,

At wits end here as the better half (ha) pulled my starter, bought me a book and a new starter and says install it. OK, so now the new starter is now installed however still whenever i attempt to crank it, i hear what sounds like fuel dispenser engaging but nothing else (not starting). Now...battery checks out good and shift ok. Open please for more troubleshooting areas as i'm not getting much else from two books.

TIA!

possibly a bad starter relay, or ignition switch.

It could be possible the starter is defective too. You need to check to make sure the starter is getting 12v

Please post more information:

Does the starter turn the engine at all? What is a fuel dispenser? What sound did the fuel dispenser engaging make? What tests showed that the battery was okay? What does 'shift okay' mean? What tests showed shift was okay? Are there any clicks, buzzes, whirrs or thumps when the key is turned to the START position? What was the old starter doing that made replacement necessary?

There are thousands of possible causes for a starting problem, but if the symptoms are described in detail, the solution will become obvious.

Good luck.

Rodan.
