2000 Buick - intake manifold gasket already ?????

Dec 04, 2003 2 Replies

Friend of mine has a 2000 Buick Century Millenium Edition.

Car only has about 40,000 miles on it.

She is diagnosed as needing an INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET to the tune of about $700. She had a very slight anitfreeze leak and the check engine light was coming on.

Any others experienced this repair this early ??

Any SECRET RECALLS/WARRANTIES on this item ???

Car is out of warranty - after 3 years - NATURALLY.

TIA

This is a very common problem on the 3100 engine that is in that vehicle. It's not early to have it fail at that mileage...other then the fact that no properly designed intake manifold gasket should be failing at that mileage.

Yes, basically....here in Canada....GM will "goodwill" this repair for up to 5 years/80,000 klms.

Have her go in and discuss the problem with the service manager at her local dealership. I'd be very surprised if they didn't just warranty it right away.

A little early but fairly normal. There are hundreds of web pages on the subject.
