I may have to replace the 2.9L v-6 in a 89 Ranger that is being given to me. The motor may be cooked enough to warrant a rebuild. If that's the case I'd rather switch it out with another. Would the 2.3L 4 cyl be compatible and if so, how many modifications will I be looking at. Things like will the motor mounts match up between the 2, cross members etc. I can get both in area junk yards and I'd like to go with the 4 cyl if it won't be too much of a project.
