95 Beretta v6 quad cam

sometimes when my car is running it acts like the fuel filter is cloged cutting out and it died on me once. it acts like it lost power and doesnt want to move spitting and sputtering when put into gear i tryed giving it gas but it died. Also sometimes when i first start it it will idle high the check engine light has came on but not stayed on long enough to have it looked at?? Is there anything you can tell me to help me out with the problems i am having. I already changed the fuel filter and it didnt help.

That's the DOHC 3.4 liter engine from hell. My opinion, anyhow, as I had one in a '92 Olds Cutlass Supreme and it's a hard engine to work on. The high idle when it's cold is similar to the problem I had. Are you getting the code for IAC solenoid? If so, the intake manifold gasket is likely cracked. It's the one between the large intake plenum and the manifold. I had a rough running engine also, and had to put in 6 new injectors to cure it. At about $50 apiece.

You aren't alone in your criticism of this engine, Garrett...Its foibles are well documented.

No, the beretta never came with the 3.4 dohc engine. Since I see the word "quad" there, I'm going to assume the v-6 is the typo.

aye...it only came with a OHV v6's. The only dual-cam engine was the quad4. And I think the v6 in the Beretta was the 3.1, and not the 3.4?

I dont know how prevalent the 4 cam overhead V6 was. It existed. That is documentable.

It was a piece of shit. Also documentable.

It would look interesting in a small hot rod.

Maybe between the rails of a '32 Ford. Then you could work on the damned thing.
