Air Induction

I was just wondering if there could be a potential conflict with the mass airflow sensor in installing a cold air intake in a car.

There should be no problems. As the name implies, a mass airflow sensor should sense the mass of the air regardless of temperature or density. If you install a cold air duct on an engine that has never had one you will be impressed by the performance increase in hot weather.

It's designed to correct for air density.

Depending on the design, it may affect your A/F ratio by increasing air pulsations that the MAF sees. This is common on Subaru 2.5L engines. If you look at the stock air intake, you may find some tubes that appear to go nowhere. These are used to dampen the pulses seen by the MAF.

Make sure your intake is designed for your particular vehicle, and not a generic one. Incorrect designs may rob you of some bottom end torque as well.
