Car shaking with AC on

I own a Ford Taurus GL 1995 3.0 engine with 120k miles. Few weeks ago, I replaced the belt that connects air conditioner, water pump, steering wheel, etc. Before the replacement, when I turn on the AC driving at slow speed (below 20 MPH, or at idle in D gear), there was a rattling noise. After the replacement, the rattling noise is gone, but now the car shakes really hard at the same slow speed. Is it the AC compressor? How do I fix this problem? Thanks!

The old belt was probably slipping a little at the compressor as it tried to lock up it's clutch. Now, with the new belt, it's not slipping. However, it may be hard enough to turn that the engine stumbles.

Your system is designed to adjust the engine idle when the AC turns on so that it does not stumble. If your AC is working good (cold and quiet) and the engine runs well without the AC turned on, then the AC may not be the problem.

Have you tried to do a visual on the belt while your ac is on to see if the compressor is shaking? or to see what might be causeing the shaking?

Yes, the engine runs fine without AC turned on. It also runs fine when speed is over 30 MPH. As the car decelerates with AC on, the shaking gets worst and louder.

I did a visual check at idle with AC on, seem like the entire engine is shaking. What is the source of the problem? Sound like it's some kind of engine problem, not AC. Thanks.
