Common Auto Body Problem

Hello, all, especially those auto body work craftspersons. No matter how diligent one is, sooner or later, while parked next to someone you get one of those small (sometimes not so small) dents/dimples as a result of the other careless person's swinging vehicle door. These dimples stand out like a sore thumb on an otherwise smooth surface. Can these surfaces ever be made to look smooth again? Thanks for your time and comment. Sincerely,
