disposal of old radiator

I have a leaky radiator that I need to dispose of. Seems like a shame to put so much metal in the dumpster. Should I take it to a radiator shop? Recycling center? Or just ignore my feelings on the matter and trash it? :-) I can't think of anything else I could possibly put it to use for.

Whether brass or aluminum, it has some value, to society if not to you personally. I would try to take it to a recycling center.

Where I live, people kill for that much metal. There is a metal recycler every 1/2 mile in the inner city. Leave it out by the curb and it will be gone in 60 seconds. Personally, I would take it to a recycler and just give it to them.

Either - you might even get a bit of cash from the deal.

I took back a bunch of scrap a few weeks ago and they were paying approx. $0.35/lb for aluminum radiators, about $0.50/lb for copper ones. Prices do change daily though..

A rule of thumb a guy told me that makes a decent living from scrap metals is "if it is metal and a magnet doesn't stick to it, it is worth something. If the magnet sticks, leave it alone"
