My wife's 1999 Chevy Prizm was just totaled. Luckily, she was not injured. Car has about 55,000 miles on it and was in excellent condition mechanically & cosmetically. The one time I have had experience with this following my mother's totaling of her car, the insurance scum tried to give her a very low-ball offer for the car, until I confronted them with book values. My wife has also had this with a car that was wrecked before we met, she looked in the local classified & found several similar cars selling for $2000+ more than the insurance was offering her at the time & finally got that amount. If anyone has any other ideas for dealing with this, I'd like to hear them. Car is in Los Angeles.
Thanks,
Dan
