The BR Standard steam locomotives were an effort to standardize locomotives from the motley collection from older locos. Unfortunately due to the controversial dieselisation of British Railways, they only spent between 7 and 17 years working on the railways. Many were preserved, mainly due to their simpilicity and common parts.

who can tell me the mean of "LOCOS" in this sentence? and its mean in the railway?

thank you!!

Uh, what was the question?

"Locos" is a contraction of the plural noun "locomotives".

I suspect the second "from" in the second line in your quote should have been "of".
