I have a 2000 chev express van, 5.7 litre engine. 40,000 miles. for the past week, there has been a loudish ticking noise when I start it up in the morning, which goes away after four - five minutes. Sounds to me like a bled down hydraulic lifter, but I haven't played inside of a motor like this since about 1975, so I have no idea what they are using for lifters these days.
Any advice? Do I get this fixed, or do I leave it? how do you get to the top of the engine of these things anyway?
Thanks, Brian
