Looking for database with tech info for older (~10 years) cars

Hi everyone,

Sorry for cross-posting but I couldn't figure out wha the right group would be.

I am looking for a data base with technical infos such as engine size and power, fuel consumption, accelaration, luggage space etc. for older cars. Some data on reliability would also help.

I googled almost the whole day but couldn't find anything useful. My searches always came up with messages where people advertise their used car database, but nothing on tech infos.

Thanks for your help,

Christoph

If you are doing this for serious research, you might want to contact several of the major automobile magazines and see if any of them have put any of this in a database of some sort. Otherwise, you would have to dig it out of old paper or electronic reprints.

I have all issues of Motor Trend since 1950 (inherited the older ones and have continued subscribing) and occasionally look at some old issues to find info or refresh my mind on older cars. Some libraries probably have MT, Car and Driver, etc. from a few years back. Probably Consumer Report is the best, or at least most readily available source of reliability info on cars. Again, you might try your local library.
