Reality hits below the belt :-(

I haven't been to SF since maybe 1990, but LA has certainly changed for the worse. Rush hour is pretty much every daylight hour, more during daylight savings time. More homeless. More regulation. More assholes. Inane TV. The usual :-(

Trying to be positive, though... Technology is better. Cars are better, if not prettier. Surgery is WAY better. Smog IS better, but it was better 20 years ago and diminishing returns are alive and well now. If I think of anything else I'll post again.

About ten years ago I used to email chat (politics) back and forth with a w oman in California, and another woman (politics) in Lima, Ohio,and another woman in New Zealand. I still email chat with a married woman in England. S ee, I keep all my women lonnng distance.

By far the safest way if you're going to juggle relationships.

California is going to pay me $1K to crush the Caddy. Now I can't find the pink slip (title paperwork) and have to go to the DMV to get a duplicate which means more time, which means I have to pay for more insurance. Still, I'll be ahead of the game. I just hate the idea of crushing old cars that might still be useful in some way, though. It's like erasing history.

got a car with some miles and years on it. I was surprised to see the vapor recycling systems on the gas pump nozzles back in the late 70s. I could se e they were serous about emissions.

I'll bet it's changed a lot too. I lived in San Bruno, a quiet little town across from SFO. Now it's the home of Youtube.com.

Your best bet is to pony up for a newer car and not worry about emissions. Better yet, just get an electric car. :)

It's a kind of a dirty engine.It's tough to get complete combustion because the flame front has to travel so dang far. I had two of them. One was an a utomatic. It works great with an automatic.

Electric cars are the future of cars because they will be cheaper to build. You won't have to build the car around the engine and drive train. They wi ll be software controlled which allows great flexibility in design, manufac turing, and marketing. My guess is that with sufficiently advanced batterie s, the range will be better than any internal combustion engine we have tod ay.
