SilverStar headlights

I have alway wondered whether a side benefit of the stock skinny wiring would be to limit the surge current when the bulb is first turned on - thereby protecting the filament and the switch or relay contacts from the shock. Any opinions?

Ok, so those Osram Silverstar headlights seem pretty good, but is there a way to make them work in place of the 9007 bulbs in my '97 Ford T'bird? Isn't there some kind of wiring adapter for them?
