If this fix worked on 91 Escort for three years and a 1970 Cougar for 10 years it should work on the Windstar.

You make me feel much better!

We would like to use the Windstar to travel to my grandson's Cross Country Regional in Indiana this weekend and it would be approx... 250 to 300 miles round trip.

We have had a problem with this line coming apart twice since trying to do exactly what you have done.

The last thing I have done is sand both ends of the metal return line and I got a 6" piece of power steering hose instead of fuel line hose and double clamped both ends.

I'm going to take the Windstar out for 5 to 10 miles an tighten the double clamps again and hope and pray it holds.

If it doesn't hold this time I'm going to bite the bullet and replace the Power Steering return line.

I'm late to the thread, but this is done all the time as long as you are sure it's the return line.

I would have to agree with Max. Make sure this is the return line. Unless there is something much different about the Windstar plumbing, the return line will have no real pressure on it as the flow is just back to the reservoir. I would be surprised if the there was enough back pressure to cause the line to blow off. Before hitting the road, roll down the street or in the driveway and turn the wheel to the stops (best not to just turn the wheel while sitting still). If the hose holds, you are probably ok.

A new hose probaly isn't that costly. If the fix isn't holding, I'd get a new hose..

The problem with a new hose is that it may be difficult to install.
