07 prius package 5 - nav lockpick?

I was reading about a lockpick - to unlock the functions on the nav so a passenger can program a route or I can dial a bluetooth call.

they have 2 models - one is to play dvd - my owners manual does not mention dvd - is there a way to play movies for the kids?

The Prius does not have any factory option/accessory to allow one to watch movies on the screen. (The DVD referenced in the higher Prius option packages refers to the map database for the navigation system being on a DVD, as opposed to a stack of CDs or a HD. The unblock DVD mention on the CoastalETech Lockpick is for one of the other Toyota/ Lexus models that the Lockpick also works on, which does have such a movie DVD device.)

The only way to play movies on the Prius would be to have a 3rd party DVD or HD unit. I think one of the CoastalETech models gives you an AV-input jack, so you could take your 3-party portable movie unit and plug it in and use the Prius' screen to watch the movie if you so wished. (But it may just be easier to get a portable DVD movie unit which already has a screen or a headset unit, and watch it that way.) I've also seen that some dealers work with some car AV installers, and offer new front seat headrests with a screen installed in the rear of these headrests so that the kiddies in the back seat can watch a movie.

The Lockpick (07 needs Lockpick 3) comes in two parts:

1) for $99, the Lockpick 3 Basic Nav Unblock removes the "I Agree" from the nav and unlocks the ability to c THIS KIT IS FOR GEN 5 NAV SYSTEMS. IT WILL REMOVE THE "I AGREE" MESSAGE AND UNLOCK ADDRESS ENTRY SO YOU CAN INPUT ADDRESS WHILE IN MOTION (FOR USE WHEN MULTIMEDIA VIDEO AND AUDIO INPUT IS NOT NEEDED) 2) for $229 the Ultimate Lockpick 3 adds audio/video in to the radio (has three RCA jacks to plug in audio and/or video; it "unlocks" the "Toyota DVD" functionality of the stereo system--but you have to provide your own audio/video source--I plug my XM radio in, but I can also plug in a DVD player and have it play on the front screen as well as play audio through the stereo).

There are two models of Ultimate Lockpick; one does just the above, for base models, and the other also unlocks the Bluetooth functionality. The Lockpick 3 page has the details.

3) You can buy both the Basic and the Ultimate combined for $299, a savings of about $30.

thanks, I ordered the $99 unit. we have a portable dvd player that we occasional use but not enough to justify $299 plus shipping. Rocky
