Hyundai Will Have Hybrids Next Year - And Fuel Cells in 2012?

No one (in this thread) has maintained that there was a more afforable car, only that it wasn't appropriate for everyone. For various reasons.

"Jeff Strickland" ...

Half-a-century this past May. I've never been ashamed of my age. :-)

LOL Shove-it. Hadn't heard that one. I remember the Pinto being good for blasting tree trunks...

Huh? No slithering. Where did anyone say that there were more affordable cars than the VW Bug? No one did. Yet you implied that I/we had said that, asking what car was more affordable. We only said that it wasn't affordable for *everyone*. Some people couldn't/can't afford a new car, no matter how "affordable" it is. And it certainly wasn't (or isn't, in its reincarnation) appropriate for large families - they can't fit.

I'm several years older than Natalie, yet don't remember this. Oh, well...

I didn't know there *were* any Pinto lovers...

The Pinto had a gas tank problem, seems if it were hit in the ass it would explode in a raging ball of fire. Anyway it did not stand the test of time and the mighty government along with Ralph Nader, et al, killed it. Pinto, R.I.P.

There were. Back in time when small cars were not very popular, but Ford looked far ahead, America and you Kathy were not ready for it, unfortunately. Today, you along with a few others now see the light, at least a little bit.

I'll name you cathy the slippery. Why not just face up to it and take it like a grown-up gal and stop this pattering and fittering around with word games.

Oh yeah - they *swear* those things exploded due to driver error - same thing Ford claimed about it, as well as the Crown Vic.

ROFL sick.

And you avoided being rear-ended.

I have to say, it was a cute little car, though.

I don't know who Kathy is...

But I quit buying American cars when the American automotive companies were refusing to see the writing on the wall in the mid-70's.

You, sir, are a major PITA when it comes to trying to have any sort of logical disussion.

the thing wasn't that bad. Nobody liked small cars then, that killed it more than ralph or mother government.

Pintos were fairly rotten little cars, but their larger cousin, the Ford Maverick, was a fairly good smallish car. A friend of mine owned one, and it gave good service with few complaints.
