LOL at the Hummer being greener

Uh yeah...

First of all Toyota has been recycling nickel-metal hydride batteries since the RAV4 was introduced in 1998. Every part of the battery, from the metals to the plastic, plates, steel case and the wiring, is recycled. To ensure that batteries come back to Toyota, each battery has a phone number on it to call for recycling information and dealers are paid a $200 "bounty" for each battery.

Second of all, if you truly believe that a Hummer H2 which gets 13mpg on the highway and 10 mpg in the city (based on GM's claims) is going to save you more... then I have some ocean front property in Kansas to sell you....

For the ocean front property please have a paypal account and be willing to buy without seeing!

Contact me ASAP!

And that is one expensive way to do things. Toyota loses its shirt on every battery they ever "recycle".

If you are speaking of "greener" then it is. Unless you mean greener as in money wise. Even then, if you were to replace the battery at 4 thousand dollars.. the cost is still better.

I don't believe that for a second - they build that cost into the price of the vehicle and warranty service contract, not to mention that they may also get Federal Energy Tax Breaks for it (not sure, but it would not surprise me).

OK, then let me rephrase that: Toyota WOULD lose its shirt, except that somebody other than Toyota is actually paying the ridiculous and unsustainable cost of "recycling" the old batteries.

That "somebody" is the original owner of the car plus the various taxpayers that supply the government with those funds that partially find their way back to the people in the form of subsidies.

Robbing Peter to pay Paul, indeed. And often even robbing Peter in order to pay Peter back some of what was robbed from him in the first place.

Your tax dollars at work.

Why do you keep changing the subject line in this thread?

Are you a newbie or just dumb?

Do you have bad broswer settings? Even if the subject line is changed it should show up in the same thread. I changed it because I can. Because I started the thread and wanted to add something. Don't like it? Well too bad! ;-)

Many politicians with such views appear to be doing more harm than good. Hypocrites usually hurt their argument. Arnold and Gore are some of those.

I'm not using a "browser". Usenet does not use "browsers". Unless you're using a Web front end to Usenet...which is common for newbies.

Oh, it does. It just looks stupid because it marks you as either an obvious newbie or a troll.

Well hey, this is Usenet after all.

Apropos of the above is the following, which my daughter and her schoolmates sing in the playground when the teachers aren't listening...

(Sung to the tune of the Barney "I Love You" song):

"I hate you; You hate me, We are mortal enemies; With a slap and a kick from me to you; Won't you say you hate me too."

There's hope for the new generation yet...

I was assuming you were using a browser. I am using OUTLOOK. I am far from a newbie, but who would truly care if I was? Huh nerdboy?

So changing the subject line of my own thread to add something means I am either a newbie or a troll? Were you so stupid that you could not differentiate between the two? *LAUGHS*

Glad you figured that out. Now perhaps it is time for you to get a life? No one gives a shit what you think lol!
