Question about the Allman Brothers...

Sorry, no OT, I wanted everyone to see it in case they have the answer...

In the current line up (since 2000, I believe), who is the blond haired 'kid' who plays the SG Special? I have never seen anyone play the guitar like that before. He plucks the lower strings with his thumb and flicks the upper strings with his fingers. Definitely a unique style...

SRV did it. Jeff Beck still does it.

By the way, that "kid" is Derek Trucks. You ought to check out some of his solo stuff. Amazing.

So that's Derek Trucks. He's amazing!

Thanks for the info, on both counts!

This guy's from out your way. http://208.65.153.253/watch?v=9HLOS2fi2Vo I already have two dead drummers out behind the garage, after trying to get them to learn the beginning. #3 will try next Friday.

Again, wow. "Animal" is close, but not enough.

I know one in Simi Valley that'd be your guy. He's over sixty, but great.

He could do it.

Kinda far to make practice in time. No age problems here, though. There's a blue singer/guitarist named Joe Beard who I'm guessing is in his mid-70s. His first set is 2-1/2 hours long. He leaves the younger band members exhausted. He takes an 8 minute break for water in/water out, and back on stage for two more hours.

For the audience, his shows are like being a made man in the mob: Youse can't leave. :-) Club owners love it.

Didn't figure there would be, but thought I'd mention it. Joe (coincidence ;-) ) is amazing

Love it. The Jack Lalanne of music.

Actually, the age thing is interesting. Three bands in a row, three 20-ish singers, and every one of them tended to defer musical decisions to the older people even if we were trying to drag their opinions out of them. Respect for elders??? WTF? One of the musketeers was whining about that a few weeks ago. "It's gone, the country's going to hell."

Nonsense.

Agreed. Think about this. The only young people likely to hang around the musketeers are those either raised by them, or friends of those raised by them.

Immediately this calls into question their character, intellect, or both.
