My g.f.'s '98 RAV 4 blows lighter fuses instantly when the lighter or a power adapter (cell phone, ipod, etc.) is plugged in. Is this a known issue; if so, what? If not, suggestions on best place to look or test methodology would be much appreciated.
The two ports may share the same relay which in turn is fused. For trouble shooting install a same amp circuit breaker where the fuse is now for the lighter ports. Unplug one port at a time to determine if it is in fact an individual port. If with one unplugged and then the other individually they both trip the breaker, the problem is either in the wire circuit or the relay.
