They have a huge mess in Texas right now with trying to get people out of the storm track, but it looks like New Orleans is gonna get slammed again.
They are saying that they (Texas) have opened the southbound freeway lanes to northbound traffic, but the video loops on TV don't show this yet. Texas has a huge military training base, why don't they station a dozen or so troops on each ramp to prevent people from getting on in the right direction, then allow everybody to go in the wrong direction. It isn't rocket science to close the on ramps and have evacuees use the inbound lanes for outbound traffic.
I just heard a Texas spokeswoman say that the inbound lanes were closed so that outbound traffic could use the pavement, but the supporting video didn't support her words. I heard a Texan tell the news guy on the phone that she had spent 6 hours trying to get out of town, got frustrated and went home. She got home in a half hour.
