Console Light

How do you change this light? The Gear selector and all the console fancy plastic cover the entire area.

Remove the bad bulb and replace with a good bulb ;-) Seriously, your chance of getting useful advice will improve greatly if you provide the model year, model, and a more specific description of the light you are trying to change, such as courtesy light in the console, gear indicator light, etc.

The vehicle is a 1995 Toyota Corolla...the bulb is inside the console...There is a plastic piece with gear selection, of course the gear shifter, and the whole heavy plasitic console... Now for some help?

Look at the console. In the front of the console on the sides, you should see one screw on each side. Remove these.

Same for the rear of the console.

Open the box in the console and look in the bottom...more screws.

lift the brake handle 1/3 of the way up. Fanagle the console past this.

(Check for wiring if there are any console mounted switches and unplug them. The plugs are made so if there is more than one, you can't mess them up)

You should see a plastic flange over the bottom of the shifter. Check for screws, or, depending on the design, you might just see the wiring for the bulb going to the bulb. Twist the socket to the left and remove the socket. Pull the bulb straight out from the socket.

Autozone will probably have these bulbs in their lighting section.

Thanks, that was a great help...there was nothing in the manuals about this little job.

Da nada!

In general, they don't want anyone ripping the car apart, so they leave these out.
